Comprehensive Varicose Vein Evaluation

At Apex Heart & Vascular Center, every patient receives a thorough vascular evaluation to identify the root cause of varicose veins—not just treat what’s visible.

Your evaluation may include:

  • Review of medical history and symptoms

  • Detailed physical examination

  • Vascular ultrasound to assess blood flow and valve function

This diagnostic approach allows the team to determine whether varicose veins are cosmetic or related to a more serious circulation issue.

Varicose Vein Treatment Options

Treatment is personalized based on your symptoms, circulation findings, and goals.

Conservative Management

For mild cases, initial recommendations may include:

  • Compression stockings

  • Elevating the legs

  • Avoiding prolonged standing or sitting

  • Lifestyle adjustments

While these steps can reduce discomfort, they typically do not eliminate visible varicose veins.

Why Choose Apex Heart & Vascular Center?

  • Board-certified cardiovascular and vascular expertise

  • Advanced diagnostic imaging

  • Minimally invasive treatment options

  • Multiple convenient locations in Houston, Tomball, and Cypress

  • Patient-centered, comprehensive vascular care

When Should I Worry About Varicose Veins?

Varicose veins do not always cause serious health problems, but they should be evaluated if you experience symptoms such as:

  • Leg aching or heaviness

  • Burning or itching around the veins

  • Swelling in the ankles or lower legs

  • Skin discoloration or thickening

  • Pain that worsens after standing

Varicose veins are often associated with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a condition where leg veins cannot effectively return blood to the heart. Over time, CVI can lead to swelling, skin changes, and non-healing ulcers.

Varicose veins may also increase the risk of blood clots, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT). In rare cases, a clot can travel to the lungs and cause a pulmonary embolism, which is a medical emergency.
